AIR BARRIER ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (ABAA) INSTALLER CERTIFICATION

IMTEF is authorized to teach the Air Barrier Association of America’s (ABAA) Self-Adhered and Fluid Applied course, a prerequisite for ABBA’s Installer Certification. It includes both theory and practical instruction.

The classroom training emphasizes the need for and function of an air barrier assembly, selecting and installing correct material(s) applications, confirming proper installation through on-site testing, and required documentation throughout the installation process. Participants learn about material selection, application technology, substrate conditions, and the continuity/compatibility of components.

The practical portion of the training course is carried out on a mock-up with an authorized ABAA representative onsite to instruct the installer on how to apply the air barrier assembly.

AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY CERTIFIED WELDER

This class is designed to introduce the student to the Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW) process. Emphasis will be placed on the student’s ability to prepare material and perform welding of fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E6010 and E7018 electrodes in all positions. Practice is geared towards Structural Welding Code vertical (3G) and overhead (4G) tests. A certification test will also be administered within this course. Passing the certification tests provides an all position limited thickness AWS D1.1 welder certification.

The American Welding Society (AWS) has established a program referred to as the Accredited Test Facility (or ATF) program. The IMTEF welding course works hand-in-hand with Earlbeck Technologies, an AWS, ATF testing facility. Our joint program establishes high standards for test facilities, our personnel, and equipment to qualify for accreditation to test and qualify welders. Once you successfully pass a certification test at an ATF center, you will receive a card from AWS which can be taken to any employer without having to recertify. You will be also listed in the National Registry of Welders, where potential employers can search to find certified welders in their area.

CONCRETE REPAIR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

IMI’s Concrete Repair Certificate Program (CRC), developed in partnership with the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), provides BAC craftworkers with the knowledge and skills required to execute sound repairs and properly integrate those repairs visually to match the surrounding concrete.

CRC is a hybrid training program covering the role of craftworkers in the overall execution of a concrete repair project. The program, which combines virtual and in-person instruction, provides a minimum of 28 hours of coursework. CRC explores the theory and history behind the concrete repair movement and an in-depth understanding of traditional materials/methods and advancements in concrete repair technology. The learning modules actively engage masonry craftworkers – many of whom have already been involved in high-level concrete repair work – through lecture and hands-on training sessions led by experienced IMI, IMTEF, and ICRI instructors. The course also draws on assistance and participation from building owners, members of the preservation design community, and product manufacturers.

FOREMEN & SUPERVISORS

IMI’s Supervisor Certification Program (SCP) develops highly skilled, confident, and effective supervisors for the union masonry industry.
